4 Networking Tips for Introverts

4 Networking Tips for Introverts

If you’re introverted like I am, these tips might help you come out of your shell when networking.

1️⃣ Lead with Curiosity

Leading with curiosity means focusing on others instead of yourself. When you shift your attention to others, it lowers anxiety and allows you to learn who others are, what they do, and what they want. You’ll have a richer experience and you’re more likely to make lasting connections.

2️⃣ Let Your Guard Down

Networking in Hollywood is an important part of being a working screenwriter but it can also be extremely intimidating. Start by letting your guard down. Know that there’s no gotcha. We’re all just trying to work. ALLOW people to get to know you and what you’re capable of.

3️⃣ Lose the Assumptions

Drop any preconceived notions about what you’re supposed to be like, and don’t assume that others will be a certain way either. There’s no right formula or equation for networking. Hollywood has all sorts of people and there’s room for you just as you are.

4️⃣ Quality over Quantity

Don’t stress about making a TON of connections. Instead, focus on making one or two quality connections. Aim for a few deep connections instead of many shallow ones.
